Are Janes products cooked?

Janes offers both fully cooked and uncooked products.  Fully cooked products include Janes Meal Makers and Janes Wings. The rest of the chicken and fish products are raw and uncooked.  All products must be kept frozen until ready to prepare.  As with any uncooked products, cooking instructions on the packaging must be properly followed to ensure the safety and quality of the products to be consumed. How long can Janes products stay in the freezer?

Most of our products are guaranteed for freshness for 1 year.  You will find the best before date on the right side panel of the packaging.

There were more/less products in the Janes package than I expected, why is this?

Janes products are packaged by weight (unless otherwise indicated on the label); therefore, the number of pieces in the package will vary. For example, one bag may contain 5 large pieces weighing 700g where another may contain 6 or 7 smaller pieces still making the 700g weight.

Which Janes Products have ground chicken and which ones are made with solid chicken?

Janes Pub Style chicken, Natural Goodness, Star Wars, and ultimates burger products are made with all white meat.  As is standard for strips, nuggets, burgers, fries, and popcorn varieties, the chicken is ground for a better mix of seasoning and texture.  If your preference is for whole chicken tenders, The Janes ultimates chicken fillets, Boneless Bites, and Meal Makers products are made from our premium whole white meat.

Where does your chicken come from?

We source our chicken from a variety of locations to ensure that we have a consistent supply of high quality, great tasting and affordable products.  We primarily use Canadian chicken, and occasionally access products from the United States and Brazil.  These products are sourced only from processors that meet our standards of quality and safety and are registered with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).  Janes products are then manufactured and packaged in Canada.

Why don’t you buy from Canadian suppliers only?

We want to ensure that our customers have a consistent supply of high quality, great tasting, and affordable products.  We are able to accomplish this by sourcing from both Canadian and International markets.  All suppliers meet the stringent food safety standards and are registered with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

Are Janes fish farmed or wild fish?

All our Janes fish products are processed from wild-caught fish. The fish is caught off the North Atlantic or North Pacific by Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified vessels. The MSC ecolabel shown on our packaging is your guarantee that the product comes from a fishery that has been independently certified to the MSC’s standard for a well-managed and sustainable fishery.
